In her novels, Pam blends realism and small-town practicality stirred up with intrigue, suspense, and a little murder to bring stories to her readers she hopes will cause them to reflect on their own lives. She weaves her love of reading and her Appalachian heritage into a tapestry of snapshots of life she has experienced while growing up in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.

Her Life…

Having family and friends gather at her home on Hobbit’s Bend Farm gives her a chance to enjoy fun, fellowship, and to try out her cooking experiments.

I’m a wannabe ‘Barefoot Contessa’ Appalachian-home style,” she says with a smile as she stokes the fire of her wood cook stove. “I do love trying out all kinds of dishes from gourmet style to down-home recipes. My hobby interests are a mixed bag. Besides reading, I enjoy fishing, gardening, knitting, and dabbling at making stained glass projects. And, then, of course there are the times we love going to plays, movies, and concerts ~ folk, rock-n-roll, and blue grass.”

Pam can be obsessive about reading, though she says that she reads slowly. Her library is full of books she wants to read, has read, and will read again. As a member of a few reading groups on Goodreads. Pam states that she bets some of the group members must think she is a ghost. Pam whispers, “I never seem to finish a book within the allotted time some of the groups suggest.”

I love learning about authors that are new to me. When I’m writing and creating stories, I like to listen to music of all types on Pandora and Sirius XM. Depending on how well my writing is flowing, I’ll jog my creative juices listening to radio classic shows streamed on Sirius XM on the RadioClassics channel.” Pam laughs. “Those old radio shows are such fun. My joy comes in learning one of my novels has brought joy to my readers.”

Hobbit’s Bend…

Pam married her best friend, Albert. It has made her life journey all the more fun. After forty-three years, Pam and Albert share incredible memories from the birth of their daughter, Julie, to the building of their dream home located on seven acres of land they lovingly call Hobbit’s Bend.

The name of our home and hobby farm is in tribute to my love for J. R. R. Tolkien and his writings. The “Bend” is because we have a large creek that flows around the bend of our property. Our life together on Hobbit’s Bend is laced with fun and laughter. Albert is the eternal jokester. His laugh is infectious and he brings great joy to my heart.”

Pam is working on her next book while learning to maneuver through new adventures brought about by Albert’s retirement.

Watching Albert retire caused me to think seriously about retiring too. So, I wrapped up my various technical writing gigs and officially retired in June, 2019.”

When asked if she would be giving up her novel writing, Pam smiled, winked and said,

Not in this life!” She giggled. “It’s where I can escape into the worlds I create and live a fantasized life.”
