Chautauqua Festival Holds Creative Writing Contest

Wytheville, VA/USA – April 20, 2016 – Sharpen those pencils and dust off the keyboards. The Chautauqua Festival’s Creative Writing Contest is underway. Short story, Poem and Essay categories are available in three divisions: students, grades 6-9; students, grades 10-12; and adults.

Contest guidelines are posted on the Wytheville Chautauqua Festival website at www.wythevillefestival.org. Please thoroughly review all contest rules before submitting entries. Send entries to Rosa Lee Jude, Co-Chair, Chautauqua Creative Writing Contest, Wytheville Convention & Visitors Bureau, 333 Community Boulevard, Wytheville, VA, 24382. Checks for entry fees should be made payable to the Wythe Arts Council. The postmark deadline for entries is May 23, 2016.

Approximately $600 in prizes will be awarded at the creative writing awards ceremony that will be held on June 24, 2016, during the annual eight-day Chautauqua Festival.

In its 30th year, the Chautauqua Festival is an eight-day family oriented arts and music festival presented annually starting on the third Saturday of June in Wytheville, Virginia. The majority of the festival’s events are held in and around Elizabeth Brown Park in Downtown Wytheville. For more information, visit the festival’s website listed above.
